| Water, if used incorrectly, or without due control, will cause widespread corrosion and failure of equipment with consequent downtime. If it doesn’t corrode, equipment may scale or foul up and not work properly, reducing if not stopping production. Additionally, water is the catalyst of life and uncontrolled growth of individually invisible micro-organisms can yield massive growths which, again, interfere with heat transfer and fluid flow. Some can cause corrosion and some can cause ill health, such as the Legionella bacterium. |
